Careers

Work on a CMS that respects the builder.

We're building Vela as a small team, in the open, with MIT source. When we hire, we want people who like shipping thoughtful things — and who want to help raise the bar for what a website stack can be.

What the job actually looks like

Small team. Real ownership.

Vela is roughly one product with a lot of surface area. Whoever joins will touch things across the stack — the CMS, the AI layer, the static-cache pipeline, the public site. That's the point.

01

Work in the open

Most of our code is MIT on GitHub. Your commits will be public. Your name on the changelog.

02

Real async

No stand-ups for the sake of stand-ups. Weekly syncs. Otherwise: write it down, ship it, move on.

03

Builder-first

Every person on the team ships product — including founders. No "leadership" who doesn't touch the code.

04

Quality over velocity

We'd rather take an extra day and do it properly than hit a fake deadline. This should be obvious; it rarely is.

Open roles

Nothing open right now.

We'll post here when we start hiring. In the meantime, if you think we'd get along — drop your email below and we'll reach out when a role opens that fits what you do.

Stay in touch

First dibs on new roles.

Tell us your email and a one-line "what I'd like to work on". We'll email the first time we open a role in your area.

One email when we open a relevant role. No newsletters.
